Business cards

Printing Services is your source for official Virginia Tech business cards. All University employees are to use black and maroon (two color) - this is the university’s standard business card. Student leaders, Student Government Association or qualified Student Organization leaders are to use black only cards. The stock offered is 100# Classic Crest Solar White Cover. Business cards are done weekly. We usually proof via e-mail with a PDF attachment; please provide an accurate e-mail address.

Please submit a HokieMart IPR and put all information to be included on the business card in the notes section. For more information, please call 231-6701.

For information on acceptable logos and applications for business cards, please refer to the Virginia Tech Brand Guide.(University access only)

Letterhead

Virginia Tech letterhead has a certain format that must be followed. See the Brand Toolkit to learn more.

Typically, letterhead is printed on 25% white rag bond, 60# white offset or 20# sulfite bond (better for use in laser printers). We request approximately one week, depending on our workload. We save negatives for three years, so reprinting will be easy.

Envelopes also have a fixed format. You can find out more about

it at Brand Toolkit.

Typical sizes are:

  • #10 - many times called Letter size or Business Size
  • #9 - fits inside a #10 (good for Business Reply Mail)

(Qualified Business Reply)

The U.S. Post Office (USPS) has allowed Virginia Tech to use permit #10 at a substantial saving for each return. However, the format is critical and must be adhered to strictly. To ensure accurate layout, please call the Composition Department at 231-5251 for more information. We prefer to lay out the mailpiece here. We must fax it to the USPS for tentative approval. After it is correct and printed, 10 copies must be sent to the USPS, where they will actually be run on their optical character reader (OCR) equipment. Upon successful completion, Virginia Tech is sent a letter of acceptance for that particular mailpiece. Only at that point are the returned pieces allowed the discounted rate. Please allow for this time delay in planning your job. When the mailpieces come back, they go first to P.O. Box 850 in Blacksburg where they are assigned a price and then are forwarded to the Controller's Office where the billing is done. Finally, they are returned as requested.

Please see our Digital Production page.
