Benefits :

You can get Zurich motor insurance if:

  • You're a UAE resident
  • You're an existing customer of HSBC
  • You have a valid driving license
  • Your vehicle must be registered in the UAE
  • You must not have been disqualified from driving, have any criminal convictions, been refused insurance or had any special terms imposed in the past 5 years.

Zurich Motor insurance key exclusions :

  • Reduction in value of car because of usage, impairment, failure
  • Mechanical breakdown
  • Overloading or carriage of more passengers than the vehicle is licensed
  • Unlicensed driver or driver with suspended driving license
  • Influence of alcohol, drugs or medicated drugs

Exclusions given above have been kept to a minimum. Details of full exclusions are available in the Zurich Motor Insurance

Why do I need 13 months of Insurance?

The UAE Traffic Department insists on a 13-month insurance certificate each time you register a vehicle or change your insurer. They provide you with the registration for 12 months and give you a one month grace period to re-register the following year. The 13 months insurance requirement is intended to reduce the number of uninsured vehicles on the roads.

Why can't the insurance and registration be in two different names?

The Policy Holder should normally be both the main driver of the vehicle and the registered owner. The Policy Holder must have a financial interest in the vehicle. The traffic department will only register a vehicle in the name stated on the insurance certificate.

How does Zurich calculate my insurance premium?

A number of factors are used to calculate your insurance premium. Amongst these factors are the age of the driver, length of driving experience, claims history, location, vehicle value and type.

Why can't the insurance be transferred when the vehicle is sold?

As the insurance premium is calculated in accordance with the profile of the driver, it is not possible for Zurich to simply transfer insurance cover from one driver to another. The existing policy must be cancelled. The new owner will then be given a new insurance policy that is required for registration purposes.

What garages will Zurich use to repair my car?

If you have selected Agency Repairs then your vehicle will be repaired at the vehicle's authorised dealership. Otherwise Zurich will select one of its own authorised repairers.

How does Zurich's motor insurance differ from other insurance companies?

Zurich provides one of the highest levels of motor protection in the Middle East - combined with the security and service standards of a large international operation, 24-hour accident recovery for Motor Extra and Motor Elite Plans, guaranteed repairs and extended opening hours.

Can I choose which garage I want to take my vehicle to?

If you have opted for Agency Repairs, then your vehicle will be repaired at the main authorised dealership. Otherwise Zurich will select one of its authorised repairers. The garage that Zurich chooses will depend on the vehicle type, nature of damage and availability.

Why has my excess increased?

The standard excess is increased by Zurich for high value vehicles, high performance vehicles, young drivers and for drivers with a poor claims history.

If my car is damaged due to a hit and run incident, will it affect my no claim bonus?

If Zurich is unable to recover the claim cost from a Third Party, then unfortunately this will be treated like any accident and will affect your no claims bonus entitlement. On the other hand, no excess is payable on recoverable claims.

Does my policy cover off-road damage?

Your Zurich Motor policies automatically cover private driven off-road damage , provided your car has 4-wheel drive capability and you are not using the vehicle in a race or competitive event.

How to Claim?

If you are involved in an accident, you should call Zurich on 800 987424 (24/7 working call center) with your policy number and report the claim. Zurich will assign the garage and arrange for the hire car (if applicable). Zurich will need the following documents from you in order to process your claim: a) Driving license b) Registration card c) Police accident report (original required)

You can fax copies of these documents to Zurich on 04 325 4171 or email them to claim.me@zurich.com. To ensure Zurich has the original version of the police accident report, you can either deliver it in person to one of Zurich branches or deliver it directly to the garage.

What if I have an existing Motor Insurance from another provider taken through HSBC?

You are free to choose to renew your policy with your existing insurer, however, as Zurich offers some of the most comprehensive cover in the market and a number of features which are actually new to the market, the benefits offered will have something that suits your needs and will be extremely valuable to you if you ever need to make a claim.
